Amy Jo Ellis

I was raised on a horse ranch without television or radio signal. While other children were enjoying Bewitched and Gilligan’s Island, we were being held spellbound as our mother enchanted us with stories by James Harriet and other authors who could captivate young imaginations and keep us quietly listening. (Quiet was probably the most important part.) My father, on the other hand, loved to read biographies. When he found something that impressed him, there was no place to hide to keep him from reading it to us. I realize now how fortunate we were to have learned about Nikola Tesla and other great inventors when we were so young.

Later, while living within walking distance of a small library, I developed an appetite for self-improvement books. On a quest, I read every self-help book in the Orange County library system.

Trying to choose 10 books… It was almost fun!

AMY JO ELLIS entered the world of Spirituality through the backdoor. She  was only looking to make an extra paycheck when she launched a career singing at spiritual churches.  However, she soon found herself enchanted by the idea that there was more to life than meets the eye.

With no formal education in this area, Amy Jo began channeling Spirit and, before long, had authored a short but powerful book on resolving conflicts at the Soul level. With a single post on social media, book sales took off, and suddenly Amy Jo had the attention of healing communities around the globe and a year-long waiting list of clients seeking her out as a spiritual medium.

My 10 Best

(in no particular order)

Walking Through Walls
by Philip Smith

This book is a delightful memoir of the energy healer, Lou Smith. It was written by his son, Philip, who takes the reader on a journey back in time and allows us to peek into the mystical and magical healing methods used by his father. While reading the stories of Lou’s accomplishments, I was inadvertently learning his technique for dowsing and diagnosing illnesses. I later used the techniques  to save my life.

I was living on a tiny island off the coast of Puerto Rico and had been sick for ten days with a 105-degree fever (40.5 c) when I realized that I was going to die if I didn’t do something to help myself, because the Doctors had not been able to figure out what was wrong with me.  Then I remembered how Lou Smith had used his pendulum to diagnose, and I thought, “Maybe I can do it too.” I downloaded a list of vital organs, held a necklace over it, and asked, “Where in my body is this infection?” My hand moved over the list and stopped on “Bladder.” I talked the doctor into doing a urinary test, and the results came back that I had a massive E.coli infection. With the correct medicine, the fever disappeared quickly. Although this book is not a tutorial on dowsing, the stories of how his father worked literally saved my life.

The Four Agreements
by Don Miguel Ruiz

This is a simple book that outlines a code of conduct. If you follow the suggested four agreements, your life and all your interactions drastically improve. I had already figured out for myself to watch what I was saying and to always be kind before I read The Four Agreements. However, my husband and I joined a book club, and we studied the Four Agreements with a group. The changes this tiny book made for my husband and our family were astounding. His anger disappeared. His relationship with our children improved.

The Agreement “Not taking anything personal” was a game-changer for our marriage.

Awaken the Giant Within
by Anthony Robbins

This is one of the first books that really helped me and hooked me on reading self-help material. Somehow, Tony’s larger-than-life approach to taking control of your thoughts penetrated my beliefs, and my life changed drastically as a result.

I had used this book so much that the cover was torn off, the pages were dog-eared and underlined, and even the colorful flags marking favorite pages were tattered.

I got the opportunity to meet Tony Robbins at one of his seminars. When I handed him my worn-out book, he got tears in his eyes as he held my book to his chest. “You have no idea how much I love seeing this!”

Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting
by Lynn Grabhorn

I was in a bookstore when this book fell off the shelf about three feet in front of me. I took it as a sign that I needed the book. Once I started reading it, I realized that my mom would love this book. When I called my mother, she said she just purchased the same book under the same circumstances.
Someone, somewhere, wanted us to read this book.

Lynn Grabhorn lives in Texas, and her sassy, no-nonsense approach to life is so easy to understand. She makes you believe you can do anything! I enjoyed this book immensely!

The Alchemist
by Paulo Coelho

I came upon this book while I was living in Puerto Rico. I bought it in both English and Spanish, and read it line by line in both languages, aiming to help improve my Spanish. Surprisingly, this fable taught me to stop telling the negative stories. This book helped me fully understand that the stories we tell about our lives cause our emotional state, not the circumstances. Also, reinforced the lesson. ~ Out of the worst can come the best.

You can Heal Your Life
by Louise L. Hay

I use this book continuously as a reference to investigate what might be emotionally happening as a cause of illness. I had already recognized that emotional upsets were causing accidents and illnesses. For example, my son was struggling in school and resented being forced to learn to write. He fell and broke his arm, which got him out of his lessons for a while.

I was telling a friend about my theory when they said, “That sounds like Louise L. Hay.” When I bought this book, I was blown away by how similar her findings were to my own. I now use the book to back up the channeled information I receive and refer people to it so they can help themselves solve their emotional upsets and make room for the body to heal.

Conversations With God
by Neale Donald Walsh

It feels silly to me to once again say, “I was already doing this.” But hey, that’s what happened. I was working with friends and family, trying to relieve pain, when I began hearing a voice in the back of my mind tell me what happened to cause their pain. When I asked whose voice I was hearing, I heard “God.”

I thought I was going crazy, and so did my husband, but when I finally got brave enough to tell my mother that I was talking to God, she mailed me a copy of Conversations with God.
It was such a relief to know that I wasn’t insane, and the things that Neile Donald Walsh writes in this book are life-changing.
It lets the reader know that God isn’t judging and punishing us. God is silently witnessing our lives and helping us when we ask for assistance.

Move Your Stuff Change Your Life
by Karen Rauch Carter

I had never paid much attention to Feng Shui until my niece gave me this book. The author uses humor to help us understand how energy travels in our lives, and the trouble that blocked energy in the home can cause. She gives easy-to-use tricks to help get the energy moving and make improvements in Romance, Money, Health, and more.

I used one of her tips, “Paint the wall Red” in my fame center, and while I was painting the wall, the phone rang with an opportunity to sing in front of 40,000 people on worldwide Television.

I’m telling you. This. $#!T WORKS!

The Future Is Yours
by Raymon Grace

I live such a blessed life. I first found Raymon Grace on YouTube and became a big fan. Then one day, my phone rings and it’s RAYMON GRACE! He had read one of my little booklets on the Court of Atonement and was so impressed with how well it worked that he called to let me know. I was gobsmacked! He then sent me a copy of this book, and in the past few years, I have read it a few times.

LOVE THIS BOOK. Raymon does his best to help the reader understand that we, too, can do the same things he is doing as we read about Raymon’s life and hear about the success he has with his “Take the bull by the horns” approach to changing energy and making a difference.

You The Healer
by Jose Sylva & Robert B. Stone

Although I read Sylva Mind Mastery years ago (I realized recently that it must have helped me develop my psychic abilities), I only found “You the Healer” in the past couple of years. This book is much easier to understand than the one I originally read. It gives the reader step-by-step processes to help us gain immediate access to theta brain waves, which is where we manifest our desires. I am not one to read a textbook; I want stories! This book is filled with success stories that help us understand how Jose Sylva and his students have used the power of their thoughts to overcome illnesses and adversaries.

I love all the success stories that describe the images Jose Sylva and his students used to heal illnesses and change events.
