Barry Eaton

My love affair with books started at a very young age when I had bedtime stories read to me by my mother, and it’s an affair that will be with me for life – well this one at least!

Growing up I bought books anytime someone gave me some money, mainly birthdays and Christmas of course. I remember reading all of Enid Blyton’s books, followed by the adventures of that air ace Biggles. I also remember enjoying authors like Arthur Ransome and Richmal Crompton. When I couldn’t afford to buy books I spent my pocket money on comics, which were the next best thing.

My father had a wonderful leather-bound collection of the works of Alexandre Dumas, and I loved reading the adventures of the ‘Three Musketeers’ and other great tales during my teenage years. English was the only subject I excelled in at school and I soon discovered the works of ‘The Bard’ as well as certain icons of poetry, and of course, the odd novel or two squeezed in between my school curriculum.

My love affair with books took a new turn when I left school and discovered tomes such as Gone with the Wind and many more. Failing at my law studies I went into the theatre and trained as an actor and of course discovered some of the great playwrights. My career as a radio and TV presenter has given me lots of opportunities to read a wide variety of books over the years.

Did I say just ‘read’? It was more like collect. This mania for collecting took a whole new turn when I studied astrology in 1991 and then embraced clairvoyance, mediumship and metaphysics. When I started a holistic radio program in 1997 it was the beginning of books arriving from all over the world for me to interview their authors. My program went online in 2003 and has just hit the 800 episode mark at the beginning of April. Now I have over five bookcases crammed with books, most of which are related to astrology, past lives, and of course iconic books from my radio program. However, over the years, I have also collected a range of books about films and theatre, my other passion in life. As for novels, I do hang on to a couple of classics but most are given away after I finish them. There’s just no more room on my shelves! Although Alexandre Dumas is still featured prominently.

Oh, I almost forgot, I do have pride of place for my own four books. My lifetime ambition to publish a book was realised in 2011 when “Afterlife, Uncovering the Secrets of Life After Death” was published. It went on to become an international bestseller—every author’s dream.

My 10 Best

(In no order of suggested reading or importance)

Journey of Souls
by Dr. Michael Newton

This is the book that I read just after my partner Judy passed in 1997 and it inspired me to explore the whole area of life after death, or life between lives. When I later connected with Judy in spirit she urged me several times and through several sources to write a book. This led to “Afterlife” my first book which was published in 2011 and has gone on to be a best seller and changed my life forever.

In Search of Lives Past by Peter Ramster (out of print now)

Peter Ramster is a former psychologist, past life regressionist and author. My explorations into past lives was triggered by a consultation with Peter in 1979, Since then we have become firm friends and he has taught me a lot about past lives and in a way was the inspiration for my latest book, Past Lives Unveiled.

Destiny of Souls
by Dr. Michael Newton

The sequel to Journey of souls, which further inspired my research into life between lives.

A manual For Developing Humans by PMH Atwater

It is often said there is no instruction book for life as we know it. This book proves otherwise and its title says it all.

You’ll See It When You Believe It by Dr. Wayne Dyer

One of the very first books I read about the spiritual aspects of life and our place and purpose. I regard it as spiritual growth 101.

Conversations With God
by Neale Donald Walsh

This book is the first in a series that show how we mortals can communicate directly with the Divine. It really appealed to me so I tried it myself and I believe it was successful. A real game changer

Hidden Truth, Forbidden Knowledge by Dr. Steven Greer

The book that opened the door for so many people to the truth about visitors from other worlds. To think that a successful doctor would give up his medical career to pursue the truth that is being withheld from the world is enough to recommend this book as something special.

Quantum Consciousness
by Peter Smith

Peter is a colleague and a friend and his research into the aspects of our consciousness ignored by most scientists and so-called experts is to be highly acknowledged. Peter worked with me on my latest book “Past Lives Unveiled” and is the former president of the Michael Newton Institute in the US. Having done one of his Quantum seminars I can highly recommend his book.

Conversations with G, A Physician’s Encounter with Heaven by Dr. Norman Shealy

Norm Shealy has an outstanding life story, starting his career as a neuro surgeon and the inventor of the Tens Machine. His evolution to spiritual work after a personal past life transformation experience is remarkable for someone from a mainstream medical background. He is probably best known for his work with Caroline Myss and now runs a wellness centre in Missouri. And by the way, Norm is in his late 80s and still going strong.

The Three
Musketeers
by Alexandre Dumas

I would also like to include a work of fiction, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas that introduced me to the world of historical fiction at a very young age. A world that I enjoy exploring for my relaxation to this present day.
